Foundations and Applications of Differentiated Instruction
In this course, teachers will have a broad knowledge of students from different profiles in order to understand and apply research-based instructional practices by differentiating process, product, and context. Teachers will engage in the systematic problem solving process: use data to accurately identify problems, analyze those problems, design and implement interventions, and intensify instruction based on individual student needs.
The value of assessments gives the teacher and student a compass to recognize where they are on their learning journey. They have a moment to reflect on wether the learning they are engaged in has had a desired result. The purpose of education is to bring the student from point A to point B within a guideline (or a benchmark as we say in education). The student contract is a great tool for assessing whether the student is on tract. Checking the accomplishment of their "signed contractis an assessment and because the student has had a say in the choice of work they have a greater personal committment to see their course accomplished. The teacher can act as facilitator and assessor of the progress they are making along the way while havcing created a differentiated environment. I am learning the abstract ability to project a choice of ideas for the student to achieve on rtheir individual levels.
